Local Pub Guide
There are many quaint and beautiful pubs in the area offering superb evening meals. Many of the pubs welcome families and offer excellent amenities and entertainment.
Here is our guide to just a few of the local public houses, but we will be happy to provide you with more information on your arrival.

The Ramblers Retreat, Alton
Although this charming eatery cannot be classed as a pub (despite its licensed status), it offers delicious meals and a welcome retreat in the middle of some of staffordshire's most delightful countryside. The restaurant is a perfect base for walkers. Located in Dimmingsdale, and a short walk away from the Churnet Valley Trail adjacent to us, the 'Ramblers Retreat' offers meals, cream teas, ice cream, and excellent desserts. One not to miss.
The Tavern, Denstone
Our local pub is the 17th Century Tavern, located 100 yards up College Road. Extremely convenient for a drink and serves food sometimes.
Blacksmiths Arms, Alton
2 minutes drive on this side of Alton. The pub has a restaurant and also serves bar meals. Does Sunday three-course set meals.
The Hollybush Inn, Salt, Staffs
Award for Best British Food 2003. This pub offers scrumptious food, quaffable ales, wonderful wines and warm hospitality. The dedicated staff ensure your enjoyment of the finest a traditional pub has to offer.
The Red Lion, Rocester
This pub is located in the same street as the Tasnim and the Fish and Chip shop (see below). Serves meals, but you have to book as it gets very busy at weekends! (Always a good sign).

Indian and Chinese Restaurant Guide
Although the choice of Indian and chinese restaurants is not extensive in the area, the quality of the food and service is very high.
There are several takeaways and restaurants located in surrounding towns, such as Uttoxeter, Ashbourne and Rocester, which are well worth a visit.  |
Tasnim Indian Restaurant, Rocester
Licensed. The Tasnim offers an 'all you can eat Sunday buffet'. A few minutes walk via the JCB park and under the main road subway. (A pretty walk at night). You can take this opportunity to see the swans and let the children feed the giant fish!
Ashbourne Bengal Cottage, Ashbourne
This takeaway and restaurant is located in the heart of Ashbourne, a quaint market town, steeped in history. The food is very good.
The Dragon's Nest, Ashbourne
A favourite amongst locals, offering a range of delicious oriental dishes.

If you can't resist the charm of fish and chips, you are sure to find several take-aways and restaurants in the local area.
Rocester and Uttoxeter are convenient for takeaways, whilst both Ashbourne shops offer facilities to eat in or take-away.  |
The Market Place, Ashbourne
Approximately 10 miles from Denstone, Ashbourne boasts an excellent fish and chip restaurant in the quaint market-place. This shop is a firm favourite amongst locals. Parking outside.
Rocester Fish and Chips, Rocester
Located conveniently in Rocester. The fish and chip shop is a short walk away from the JCB lake, where you can feed the swans with any left over chips! |

This take-away offers Pizzas, Burgers and Kebabs, and will even deliver if you meet the driver in our car park. You have been warned!
The Golden Hill Chinese Take-away, Ashbourne
A fast and friendly service. Locals recommend the food.
